At first I would like to talk to anyone who has never heard anything about the Clean-up day. After many complain, relating to cleanness surroundings our College, the Health and Safety Committee decided organize the Clean–up day and present new policy.
Last Saturday many students – volunteers took part in the big cleaning action. They met at 10am in the entrance hall and they got rubbish bags and rubber gloves from organizers. Volunteers split in two teams. The first team started to clean outside College. The other one began their job inside building. After the Clean-up day were all competitors tired but happy. They saw a lot of well done job behind them.
As you know our College has become no smoking institution since this Monday. Most of us agree with this new rule. The butts laying everywhere disgust smokers as much as non-smokers.
Do you know about extra bins? This is other part of the new healthy and safety policy. We hope that new bins placed inside College contribute to avoid dropping litter on the ground.
The only rule students have found silly is penalty for dropping litter. Students can’t afford to pay such high amount of money ( £10 ). And it can be difficult prove someone this transgression.
The main expected result of the Clean-up day is not clean Collage at Saturday night but organizers hope that students become more responsible because they now know how hard is keep College clean.
