My name is ..…and I’m Managing director of Oskar mobil a.s. In June 2005we became part of the VODAFONE family and I’d like to describe and give you some basic information about VODAFONE in my presentation.
INTRODUCTION:
Vodafone’s full name is Vodafone Group Plc, and it’s the largest mobile operator in the world. It operates in 27 countries accross five continents. It has approximately 165 mil customers-not to mention partners in further 14 counties- number of customers will increase to 400mil. Customers.
HISTORY:
Vodafone was formed in 1984 as a subsidiary of Racal EelectronicsPlc,,then known as a racal Telecom Limited.
Racal Electronics was granted a licence in the U.K. way back in 1982.
Racal Telecom Limited became independent company in 1991 and its name changed to Vodafone Group Plc.
Vodafone was chosen as the name of the network, to reflect the provision of voice and data services over mobile phones.
First milestone in development of company dates back to 1985 when the first call was made on the network.
One of the most exciting milestones came in 1991 when the signal went on its first trip abroad to Finland and roaming was born. Vodafone and Telecom Finland made the world’s first roaming call.
One of the key milestones came in 1994.SMS was first sent over the digital network in the U.K.,thanks to Vodafone.
Then in 2002 came Vodafone live! Customers can download games,ringtones,videos,take
and send picture messages,and also have acces to real time informations,entertainment,sport..
whenever and wherever they want.
Other key milestone were merger with american ,,AirTouch,,(60 miliard dollars) and also with german Mannesmann.(3x60miliard dollars) in 2000.
FUTURE VISIONS:
Vodafone takes the future very seriously.
Vodafone offers mainstream mobile services alongside the pioneering new products that will become the indispensable services of tomorrow.
Smarter,smaller devices with faster,fatter wireless connectivity are coming.
Vodafone moves forward by having one foot in the present and one foot in the future.
