New York is the largest city of the USA with 8 millins inhabitants, but guring the day there are about 20 mil.people (–turists,or people which have work there).
New York is the most important port in USA,and its a financial world, of the art, media and fashion world. And very interesting place for turists, coz there are the most famous skycrapes. But on the otherside New York is notorious fot its crime. There drug battles, gang wars and homelles people living in the streets.
Half of New Yorks populations is foreign born,or has foreign born parents.A lot of immigrants were coming here becouse of second WW.
Most New Yorker and tourists use to traveling trough the city the subway systém or they také very famous yelow taxis.In New York there are threeairports- the biggest Kennedys airport and La Guardia, and airport in New Jersey- Newark airport
Something from history:
It was founded in 1655 by Dutch colonials, and it was called New Amsterodam. And its situated on junction of the Hudson river with East river.
The symbol of the New York is The statue of Liberty, it was s gift from France to celebrate an aliance of two nations-between USA and France
New York consists of five parts : Manhatan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island which is sometimes called as a Richmond.
Manhatan
It has a 3 parts- Uptown, Midtown and Downtown…Down town is south of Manhatan, Midtown is an area around the Central Park and Uptown is north of Manhatan- its called Harlem.
The Manhatan has two types of street. The first one from north to south-its called AVENUE. Manhatan has twelve avenue, and the most popular are Lexington, Madison, Fifth and Park avenue.
The second one are streets- they are from east to west, in Manhatan,there are 220 streets. The most important is Wall street-coz its a financial center of USA-there are 2 stock market.
In Manhatan is one diagonal street- its called Brodway-its center of culture.
Downtown– there is a financial district- we can find there WTC( world trade center) which was destroyed by terrorist atttacks in 11th September in 2001- now we callled it Ground Zero,Twins was the tallest buildings in the world,now it is Empire state buildings. In Downtown-there is a Battery Park-and there is a important port for NYC. The Statue of Liberty is faraway about 0,5 km. There are other interesting places- China town, Little Italy, SoHo, Greenwich Village-these are a parts of Down town.
Midtown-area aroud the central park,this is the most popularpart of Manhatan-there are the most popular atraction of NYC- Empire State Buildings-on the top is observatory, the Crysler Biulding, Time Square fomous witj New Years celebration, Brodway- a centreof cultural life, is one of the popular streets in the world, Rockefeller centre- 19 building complex, the building of The radio city music hall, Saint Patrick cathedrale, Lincol center, Carnegie Hall,Metropolitan opera House, Guggenheim museum( which has form of helix)
