LEISURE TIME
People like spend their time in different manner (způsoby). People whose parents love sports will be probably sportsmen too. Some people are sick or some are lazy. Someone likes art, someone books. It is good if someone has some hobbies, because people who aren’t interested in anything are boring.
A hobby is a very important for everybody. It is like a cure if you are tired, sad, feeling sick or in low spirits (špatná nálada).
Traditional indoor hobbies include collecting things – e. g. stamps, postcards, model cars and air-planes, stickers, coins, concert programmes,…
Many people like to do something creative such as painting or drawing, making pottery, playing musical instruments, dress making, knitting, cooking or doing crossword puzzles.
Television and videos provide easy indoor entertainment and watching TV is by far the most popular leisure activity. People also play computer games or use the Internet. Other home-based activities iclude reading and listening to music.
Sport:
Sports are one of the most popular leisure time activities. Sport help us to keep fit both physically and mentally. We can divide sports to groups: winter – summer, outdoor – indoor, team – individual, professional – amateur.
People do some sport activities mainly for fun, for losing weight, for relaxing, for reduce stress. Sport gives people enjoyment, happiness, friendship, good health, popularity, money and many more things.
Outdoor sports are as follows (následující): golf, skiing (cross-country, down-hill, slalom, ski-jump), windsurfing, marathon-running, horse riding, climbing, jogging, …
Indoor sports include: table-tennis, gymnastic, chess, aerobic, bowling, squash, …
Ball games – football (in the USA it is called soccer), basketball, volleyball
Athletics (sprint, high jump, long jump, javelin throw), tennis, skateboarding and skating may be practised both indoor and outdoor – these sports take place in stadiums as well as in athletic halls or outdoors.
Aquatic sports – water skiing, swimming, diving, water polo, canoeing, …
For each nation there are several sports at which they are good and which are popular in their country.
