Family life, daily chores, housing
Should I speak about this topic- family life, daily chores and housing- I’d start with my family in general, then I will say something about my daily chores and finally I will tell you something about housing in the Czech Republic, the UK and the USA.
I live in a block of flats in a housing estate called Máj in the town of České Budějovice. I live there with my mother, her partner and 2 sisters. Sisters are 22 and 19 years old. I have one older brother too, but he doesn’t live with us anymore. He is 24 years old and he lives in Prague with his girlfriend. I think, that I come from a quite large family.
In addition, I’d like to say something about my relationship with family members. I have quite good relationship with my mother, but I have to say, that’s we are almost the same character, so we sometimes argue. Should I speak about my relations with my siblings, I’d say, that I have really good relationship with both my sisters. We have many things in common and we are close in age, so it’s rather easy to get on well with them. As for my brother, I don’t spend much time with him, because he comes from Prague a few times a year.
Regarding my daily chores, I have to do some of the housework. I have some regular housework, such as sweeping in the kitchen, because we don’t have carpet, and then cleaning the bathroom. We take turns in this two houseworks, so one week I have to do sweeping, the following one I have to do cleaning bathroom. Then I have to do some more housework, such as washing dishes, dusting, wiping in common areas and so. I must admit that I hate housework and I try always to avoid them.
When it comes about housing, I will start with typical Czech houses. The Czech mostly live in a small house for one family or in a block of flats. Many people have a cottage in the countryside and they like spending their weekends there. Should I describe a typical Czech house, I would say that every Czech house has a fence around a house. The garden is very important for Czech people. They like gardening, growing flowers and many Czech families have a dog. Typical for Czech people is also garage, but many families have their car in front of the house, because they are too lazy to park it into the garage. Typical Czech house has curtains inside and then a small swimming pool and a terrace outside.
Now I’d like to say something about housing in Britain. British house has 2 floors and 4 to 6 rooms. On the ground floor there is living room, dining room, kitchen and hall. Upstairs there is bathroom, toilet and bedrooms for parents and children. There can also be a guestroom. British have 2 gardens. One of them is in front of the house, it’s quite small and actually only for decoration. Back gardens are much bigger, there are trees and it’s good for having parties or barbecue.
Finally I will say a few words about US houses. The apartments in the US are always rented, you don’t own them like you can own the house. Not many Americans own a summer cottage. However, almost every American can own his own home. It’s a symbol of freedom for them. The Americans use to live in suburbs. The houses are usually made of stone or wood.
