Place where I live and study – Čáslav and surroundings
I would like to talk about place where I live and study. It is about Čáslav and surroundings.
Čáslav is a little town near Kutná Hura in Middle Bohemian region. In Čáslav live about 10.200 inhabitant. In Čáslav is very nice square, which is original and Renaissance origin. In Čáslav is a lot of schools. Čáslav have 4 nurseries, 3 elementary schools, 1 grammar school, 5 secondary schools and 1 higher vocational school. For example Secondary pedagogical school or Secondary agricultural school. In Čáslav lives and lived a lot of famous persons. For example Ludmila Formanová or Josef Skřivánek (architekt). Near Čáslav live Jarmila Kratochvílová. I can go to athletic stadion or to the park Vodranty or outdoor swimming pool in my free time. It has long historical traditions. We can go to Miloš Forman cinema or Dusíkovo theatre in Čáslav. Near Čáslav are very nice place for walk for example Kačina castle, Žleby castle and Lichnice.
Hrádek
Hrádek is on hillock on the west of cetre Čáslav. Hillock had 255 metre above sea level. The oldest populating (osídlení) was since 9th century. There was the dynasty (rod) Slavníkovci. Hrádek become a centre of přemysl province in 11st century. Hrádek perished (zanikl) in half 13rd century. In closer unknown place on Hrádek stood Romanesque church St. Panny Marie with cemetery.
Town walls
Čáslav was surrounded by a massive wall since its establishment in 1264. It was built to protect the town against thiefs and enemy attacks. But just one third of it has remained until today.
Museum
Municipal Museum in Caslav among to the oldest rural museums in Bohemia. The building was designed by Ing. František Tetřev a cost of 23 000 gold. The museum was opened to the public on 22 November 1885. In this museum were natural collections of Josef Kaunický (patron of the museum). This collections were gathered by the museum and archaeological association Včela Čáslavská.
The synagogue
The synagogue was built in the Moorish style in Caslav on Masaryk Street. It was completed in 1899 according to the plans, which developed architect Wilhelm Stiassny. It is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
Statue of Jan Žižka
Statue of Jan Žižka is a monument to the Hussite military leader Jan Žižka. The author of the sculptures is Josef Václav Myslbek. Sandstone statue is registered in the central list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. It is located on the square of Jan Žižka in Caslav in the Park.
I visit there a secondary school, pedagogigal lyceum. I was born in Čáslav, so I like it so much. This is small town, but we have there a lot of sports opportunities and a lot of places for walking.
We can go for a walkt to the park in Vodranty, where is also an athletic stadium.
When we want visited sightseeing in our surroundings, we can visit Kačina castle, Žleby castle or ruins Lichnice. We can also go to Kutná Hora. This town is famous for silver mining and popular mines. There is also cathedral of St. Barbora establishmend in 1388.
